The Community Voices component of Environmental Dashboard is designed to celebrate and promote thought and action that build stronger, more sustainable and more resilient communities. Community members representing the diversity of this community are being interviewed to share their perspectives. Ralph Potts

Ralph Potts is the General Manager of Oberlin’s Cable Co-op, and has worked for the Co-op since its establishment in 1986. He has been a member of the Oberlin Community for nearly three decades. He is known as a hard worker and a good leader. He finds time to help out with the ‘bread-and-butter’ functions of the Co-op, such as performing installs and answering phones, in between his official duties.

Steve Dupee

Steve Dupee is the director of Oberlin Municipal Light and Power System (OMLPS), which is a community-owned electricity provider for Oberlin. He’s been a part of the organization for the past 22 years and has developed a passion for publicly owned power.

Bradley Hamilton

Bradley Hamilton (OC class of ’17) hails from South Carolina. He is majoring in Neuroscience and is on both the track and cross country teams. Bradley currently volunteers with the America Reads program and has been involved with college-run activities such as STEM Night to get Oberlin kids more interested in math and the sciences. He sees community involvement as a very important and rewarding part of his time at Oberlin College and hopes that others are inspired to get involved in any way they can.

Tom Geller

Tom Geller is a freelance writer who chose to use the services of Providing Oberlin with Efficiency Responsibly (POWER) to insulate his home.

A.G. Miller

A.G. Miller is Professor of Religion at Oberlin College. He has lived in Oberlin with his wife Brenda Grier Miller since 1991. In 2001, he and several other Oberlin community members started the Oberlin House of the Lord Fellowship, part of the House of Lord Pentecostal churches. A.G. enjoys visiting his family, especially his granddaughter.

Thomas Bethel

Thomas Bethel is the Mastering Engineer/Managing Director of Acoustik Music, Ltd.. Prior to starting his own business, he served as Oberlin College’s Director of Audio Services and Concert Sound for 26 years. During his time working for Oberlin College, he recorded over three thousand concerts and did live concert sound for hundreds of live events.

Francine Toss

Francine Toss graduated from Oberlin College in 1971. She is currently the librarian at Eastwood Elementary School and co-owner of the Carlyle Shop.

Tanya Rosen-Jones

Marleen Watling

Marleen Watling is a librarian at the Oberlin Public Library. When the weather allows, she bikes all the way to and from her home in North Ridgeville 3 days a week. Biking has become a real positive force in her life, as a way of not only reducing her energy use, but also of feeling healthier and more connected to the environment.
